This time I opted for the Roasted Chicken which turned out to be very satisfying. My dining companion opted for the usual: Crab Rice. This dish is a delightful fusion of flavor that leaves a lasting impression. It is made with crab and fried rice, egg, cucumber, cilantro, green onion, and the sauce that Thai people use as the all-purpose flavor enhancer, phrik nam plaa. The aromatic blend was delicious!The Fried Wings have been a personal favorite appetizer in the past, a crispy and flavorful prelude to the culinary journey that follows, but we chose to skip it this time. They are the best tasting wings I’ve had, and I’ll make sure we have then next time we stop by. This family-owned restaurant serves up authentic Venezuelan dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.The restaurant is in a strip mall and the interior is spacious and inviting. Their address is:&nbsp;3200 Greenlawn Blvd Ste 300, Round Rock TX. The star of the show at Arepitas is, of course, the arepa. These cornmeal cakes are made to order and can be filled with a variety of delicious ingredients, such as shredded beef, black beans, cheese, and avocado. I tried the arepa La Llanera, which is filled with Angus Sirloin steak, fresh grilled cheese, avocado, garlic homemade sauce and cilantro. It was absolutely delicious! The steak was tender and flavorful, and the rest of the ingredients complemented perfectly. It was a truly satisfying and filling meal.I also tried the Parrillita bowl, which is a mix of Angus Sirloin Steak, grilled chicken, onions, red bell peppers, sliced white fresh cheese, avocado, garlic homemade sauce and cilantro. It is served with a choice of rice, fried yucca, cabbage or fries. I chose the yucca, and it was definitely the right choice. The meats were cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were tender and flavorful. It was a great option!They also have vegetarian and vegan dishes and you must leave room for&nbsp;dessert. The chocolate Marquese was scrumptious! Not a mousse, not a cake, not a pudding. It's its own version of chocolate heaven!The service at Arepitas is friendly and attentive. Alicia, the server, was happy to answer any questions and make recommendations. I was impresses at how knowledgeable&nbsp;she was about the menu. We have been on a quest to try barbecue spots in the area and are extremely happy to have found <a href="https://www.facebook.com/BrownsBarBQue/">Brown's BBQ</a>. It is a small, family-owned barbecue trailer located at 1901 S Lamar Blvd in Austin, Texas. The trailer has been serving up delicious barbecue since 2012, and it has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The menu at Brown's Barbecue is simple, but it is all made with high-quality ingredients. The star of the show is the brisket, which is smoked for 12 hours over oak wood. The brisket is tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Other smoked meats on the menu include ribs, sausage, and pulled pork. There are also a few other options, such as smoked chicken and tofu.The sides at Brown's Barbecue are all homemade and a great addition to the delicious meats. There are also a few other sides to choose from, such as mac and cheese, cornbread, and green beans.There are a few picnic tables to sit at, but most people prefer to take their food to go, as we did. We brought home brisket and sausage and the small portions of potato salad and coleslaw, which were enough for two people (no photos :(). I also added a salad to our plates, since we love our greens! Located in central Austin, Nori is a plant-based sushi restaurant that offers a unique and refreshing twist on traditional sushi. Whether you're a vegan foodie or just looking to switch things up, Nori has something to please every palate. Let's start with the appetizers. The Tatume and Brussels sprouts were both delicious and beautifully presented. The Tatume, a dish made with roasted summer squash, lemon-corn aioli and shiso microgreens, had a subtle sweetness that paired well with the tangy ponzu sauce. The Brussels sprouts were crispy and coated in a mouth-watering sauce that made them disappear from our plate in record time.Now, onto the sushi. The Volcano roll was a standout favorite, with its creamy avocado, spinach and sweet potato, topped with spicy mayo. unagi, chill sauce, Caviart and tempura&nbsp;onion flakes. The Shiitake roll, made with roasted shiitake mushrooms mix and tempura scallion crunch, topped with zucchini, miso caramel sauce and leek fries, was bursting with flavor. And last but not least, the Hearts of Palm roll was a refreshing surprise, with avocado, bibb lettuce and tomato, Caviart, spicy mayo and chili sauce on top.&nbsp; Finally, we finished with the Smores Fudge, a decadent and gooey dessert that brought a smile to our faces.&nbsp; A chocolate truffle, pistachio crumble, surrounded by marshmallow cream and a side of fresh sliced strawberries. I was excited this past weekend to take one of my friends, who was visiting from out of state, to enjoy some delicious vegan dishes at Austin’s “first vegan gastropub”.&nbsp; To start out meal, we ordered the buffalo cauliflower wings. The cauliflower wings were fried, crispy and covered with a spicy and tangy buffalo sauce, served with a vegan bleu cheese dip that tasted rich just like the real thing but was lighter. Totally scrumptious! For our main course we both ordered the Nashville Hot &amp; Crispy. Austin, Texas, the music capital of the world and more great restaurants that you can explore in a lifetime. Finding gems is one of my specialties, I'm talking about food, and this one is this month's winner.<a href="https://vincentspub.com/" alt="Vincent's Pub">Vincent's Pub</a>, located in a small shopping strip in South Austin, had been the one place I kept hearing about. Some of my friends kept raving about their burger. Also, they have large TV's all over the pub and showed the Soccer World Cup. Football games are always on.Their full bar even has my favorite liquor on their shelves, not a common one, so, I'll have to go back one of these evening for a night cap.&nbsp;I've been there twice now. The first time I did not take photos, unfortunately. I ordered the shrimp tacos and my dining partner ordered the famous burger.The tacos were delicious, with a kick to them and just spicy enough for my taste. I took a bite of his burger and realized I would have to have one as soon as possible. It was scrumptious!&nbsp;&nbsp;So, when my friend from out of town called and wanted to meet for lunch, I took her to Vincent's and I ordered the burger. It was just as I remembered, mouth watering! When my daughter invited&nbsp; me to an early birthday dinner celebration, I did not expect to be treated to one of the best meals I've ever had. We arrived at Canje without a reservation, because when she tried to make one they were booked for a few weeks (this was in October). We got there close to opening time for dinner, 5p, and we were taken to a table immediately. Since the next reservation was at 645p, we knew we would have plenty of time.&nbsp;My daughter told me that she found Canje on the list of Top 50 Best Restaurants in the country in the New Yorker, and the only one included from Austin. I was thrilled to be there!&nbsp;The service was excellent. The server took our drink orders and we proceeded to study the menu. We chose the Tres Leches Cake. That day it was a combination of an original recipe but with pineapple. Celebrating milestones with great company gives me the best feeling. Another year started with a lot of hope, new friendships and a bright future ahead. My friends know I’m a foodie and we chose a quaint place to celebrate. We went to <a href="https://www.crepecrazy.com/" alt="Crepe Crazy">Crepe Crazy</a>, it was my first time there and I had heard all good things and read some great review as well, so I was eager to try it. The place was booming on this early Sunday afternoon. There was a constant line that moved quickly even though all (or most) of the employees are deaf and most of us -patrons- are hearing. They have it all figured out. I tried my minimal sign language skills and the young lady at the register was willing to help. She handed us a dry eraser board to write on, if needed, and she also used her phone to write the answer to our questions. We placed our order and waited for a few minutes since they make everything fresh on the spot. All the crepes were delicious! I tried the Prosciutto, Brie and Apricot Jam. It was scrumptious! My friends ordered the Caprese, Chicken and Mushrooms and Chicken Pesto. All I can say is that all our plates were completely cleaned out. In addition to all the savory crepes, we ordered one to share for dessert. It was the Caramelized Apple and Vanilla Crème which hit the sweet spot to end a perfect meal. Oh, and the Chai Latte was delicious too! Made with Almond milk per my request, with a touch of honey. South Padre Island is known as the best beach in Texas and I concur. The beach is one of my happy places and I visit it often. Every time I'm there I discover a new boutique and eatery. This time around we parked in front of&nbsp;<a href="https://teamorefashion.com/" alt="Te Amore Fashion">Te Amore Fashion</a>&nbsp;as we were walking towards the chosen restaurant of the day.&nbsp;Te Amore Fashion is an adorable women's clothing store with the latest fashion from New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Paris and Italy, where we shopped after lunch and I purchased two party dresses for future events and I can't wait to wear them. I was pleasantly&nbsp;surprised by their selections and original&nbsp; pieces.&nbsp; The restaurant we went to is <a href="https://www.facebook.com/cevichecevichesouthpadreisland/" alt="Ceviche Ceviche" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;">Ceviche Ceviche</a>. This unassuming locale is a cafeteria style eatery where the employees make the dish fresh in front of you from the selections available. They have a standard menu that you can modify by adding extra delicious toppings. The ceviche and all toppings are fresh. The menu shows their favorite combinations and I went with the classic. This dish starts with your choice of fish or shrimp, or both, and avocado, cilantro, red onion and tomatoes. I added pineapple and half a jalapeno which gave it the sweetness and slight spiciness&nbsp;that I wanted. It's served with the crunchiest of chips which I indulged in during my vacation. My friend chose to make her own with shrimp, cilantro, olives and mango. It looked just as scrumptious as mine was.When in SPI, this is a must stop restaurant. Have you every thought of travelling to Argentina? Thinking of savoring the most delicious meal?If so, this is the place to try.<a href="https://elgauchowinery.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">El Gaucho Winer</a>y&nbsp;is a small winery with Argentinian and other imported wines. The owners pride themselves in the quality of wines they serve and small plates to accompany them.A few months ago, Adrian Scalia, set up house in this beautiful hill country location to enhance the winery with his masterpiece Argentinian barbecue and other dishes. I had been wanting to try it for a while, after seeing the reviews on Facebook and other sited, by many of my 'compatriotas'. Yesterday it finally happened.I was spending the weekend with two of my friends who were visiting from the Houston area. We had spent the weekend visiting different Austin fun places. Among them were the Baker's Street Pub and ABGB in South Austin and Vincent's on the lake. I decided to take them to The Gaucho Winery for a meal before they had to head home.This was a great decision. We arrived at the location surrounded by wild land on a hill and visited with Adrian for a bit while checking out the fabulous brick oven and grill where he prepares his magnificent dishes.We sat under one of the canopies and although the weather was hot, the shaded area and breeze made it comfortable enough to endure our Texas heat.We started by ordering the Tablita de Campo. This appetizer had a traditional beef and pork sausage, provoleta and a beef empanada served with chimichurri sauce and bread. This sampler was finger licking good! The sausage was as tasty as it could be, and provoleta just as I remember it from many year ago eating in Buenos Aires. The empanada absolutely delicious, although a different recipe than the one my mother taught me and I make on occasion, but the best on that board was the chimichurri. This sauce is made with a base of parsley and spices and there are many different recipes based on what party of the country you came from. Since Austin is known as the Music Capital of the World, I like to explore new establishments to listen to live bands. During the weekends, and even during the week, you can find live music just about every corner. Way South Austin is one of the newer popular areas to check out. Lots of new places are booming off Menchaca Road and will show you a good time. A few days ago, I went to listen to a couple of bands at the Armadillo Den and to my surprise I found four food trucks there. All very different from each other. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I tend to lean towards healthier, organic and local foods. Happy to say I found <a href="https://www.weareranchhand.com/" alt="Ranch Hand">Ranch Hand</a>, one of the four food trucks, serving delicious bowls and sandwiches. I tried the Rosemary bowl made with purple rice, roasted sweet potatoes, Honeycrisp apple, pumpkin seeds and goat cheese on a bed of organic spinach and I added the steak bites on it. This was one the best meals I have had lately. Totally scrumptious and I’ll be going back to try some of their other dishes soon. They are open Tuesday through Sunday, so if you find yourself in the area, check them out! Ranch Hand at the Armadillo Den - Austin

Have you every thought of travelling to Argentina? Thinking of savoring the most delicious meal?If so, this is the place to try.&nbsp;<a href="https://elgauchowinery.com/" alt="El Gaucho Winery">El Gaucho Winery</a> is a small winery with Argentinian and other imported wines. The owners pride themselves in the quality of wines they serve and small plates to accompany them.A few months ago, Adrian Scalia, set up house in this beautiful hill country location to enhance the winery with his masterpiece Argentinian barbecue and other dishes. I had been wanting to try it for a while, after seeing the reviews on Facebook and other sites, by many of my 'compatriotas'. Yesterday it finally happened.I was spending the weekend with two of my friends who were visiting from the Houston area. We had spent the weekend visiting different Austin fun places. Among them were the Baker's Street Pub and ABGB in South Austin and Vincent's on the lake. I decided to take them to The Gaucho Winery for a meal before they had to head home.This was a great decision. We arrived at the location surrounded by wild land on a hill and visited with Adrian for a bit while checking out the fabulous brick oven and grill where he prepares his magnificent dishes.We sat under one of the canopies and although the weather was hot, the shaded area and breeze made it comfortable enough to endure our Texas heat.We started by ordering the Tablita de Campo. This appetizer had a traditional beef and pork sausage, provoleta and a beef empanada served with chimichurri sauce and bread. This sampler was finger licking good! The sausage was as tasty as it could be, and the provoleta just as I remember it from many year ago eating in Buenos Aires. The empanada absolutely delicious, although a different recipe than the one my mother taught me and I make on occasion, but the best on that board was the chimichurri. This sauce is made with a base of parsley and spices and there are many different recipes depending on what part of the country you came from. Adrian's chimi&nbsp; is one of the best I've had, even better than mine :).We ate all this while waiting for the main meal and when it arrived, I was delighted!We ordered Vacio a la Parrilla, a 14-16 oz Argentinian grilled flank steak cooked to perfection with a pink middle, a side of Papas al Romero, grilled potatoes with garlic and rosemary and Vegetables a la Parrilla, onions, squash, sweet potatoes and carrots. All scrumptious!&nbsp; To end this incredible meal we had the Panqueques de Dulce de Leche, 2 crepes filled with dulce de leche flambeed with Grand Marnier liquor and topped with dulce de leche ice cream. The Gaucho Winery

Trying out new eateries in Austin is one of my hobbies. This time I met a friend at <a href="https://www.thebrewtorium.com/" alt="The Brewtorium">The Brewtorium</a> in the South part of town. It’s a brewery, restaurant &amp; beer garden with German-style beers plus pizza, mac &amp; cheese and pub grub. The place is large, open, and rustic looking, with long wooden tables and plenty of seating inside and out.They also have special events, public and private including Pitcher Tuesday and Happy Hour Hump days.&nbsp;&nbsp;Their menu is not too large and with plenty of choices including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.&nbsp;My friend had been there a few times before and knew exactly what to order. I took my time reading the menu thoroughly and it was not an easy decision, but I landed on the sandwiches and chose the Traditional Reuben.To my surprise, my friend ordered the same and said it was his choice all along since it was one of the best items on the menu. This sandwich was made with house corned beef layered with melted Swiss cheese, freshly prepared sauerkraut, pickles, and Russian dressing, served on toasted marbled rye. And my friend was right, I can sum it up in one word: scrumptious! But I’ll add that it was fresh, soft, crunchy and creamy, all at the same time.This is one of the restaurants that I’ll choose to come back to try a few ~or a lot~ of the other items in the menu.Enjoy! Some business meetings take place in cool eateries and here, in Austin, TX, we have plenty of those.&nbsp; This locale has a full bar and a small and delicious menu, offering an all day and dinner menu&nbsp;every day and brunch on the weekends.&nbsp; Happy Hour is offered Monday through Friday from 3pm to 5pm with 25% off all bottles of wine. On this cool January day, I met with a vendor at <a href="https://junesallday.com/" alt="June's All Day" class="on">June's All Day</a>, a quaint restaurant in SoCo (South Congress for the foreigners and visitors). This sophisticated and quaint bar and café, has it going on.We had reservations, thankfully, because it was full. Upon arrival we were seated immediately and served water.The server and all staff was pleasant and friendly.We proceeded&nbsp;to order a delicious beets and pears salad with crème&nbsp;fraiche and pumpkin&nbsp;seeds. It is not showing on their online menu and I truly hope they still offer it because it was scrumptious!I went for the Croque Madam. This is an elevated sandwich with jambon paris, gruyere cheese, a fried egg on top and mixed greens salad. Absolutely scrumptious! June's is definitely a must try if you are in South Austin.
